On Feb. 13, halfway between Lincoln's Birthday and Valentine's Day, is a holiday I just invented: National Dark-eyed Junco Day.

Legend has it that if you see Allendale Al (or any other junco) seeing its shadow on this day, it means six more weeks of juncos.

Rumor has it that some folks are hoping for a cloudy day.
