Once Mrs. Ace was sitting on eggs, I decided to stop filling the seed and suet feeders in the back yard, as a favor to Mrs. Ace and to the other birds.
I figured that no seed or suet meant fewer birds to harass Mrs. Ace when she stuck her head out of the opening. I also figured it also meant fewer birds to be snatched from our back yard. A fair trade-off.
The result has been striking: Aside from the hummingbirds that regularly come up to the sugar-water feeders on the windows, the only other yard birds I get are robins.
