Judy Cinquina, an expert local birder, reports that she has been monitoring the Allendale red-shouldered nest for weeks and believes that there were no young in the nest as far as she could tell.
"The eggs were due to hatch any day now, but obviously, that is a moot point now that one of the adults has died," she writes. "The surviving adult will find another mate, either this year or next.
"Suburbia is full of dangers for wildlife. That’s precisely why we must preserve wild places for wild things."
