Seymour Drakes notes that things are really hopping at DeKorte Park in the Meadowlands.
His so-called friend Jim Wright got lucky and photographed a rare bird called a Wheatear — an apparent first for Bergen County.
The resultant influx of great birders to see the Wheatear (above, photo courtesy of the NJ Meadowlands Commission) has touched off a lot of other cool sightings, including Golden Plover, immature Glossy Ibis, Soras, and hundreds of egrets and yellowlegs.
