Next Wednesday: Talk on the Celery Farm, Fell House

CF_History-002Next Wednesday night (March 11), I will illuminate the history of Allendale's John Fell House and Celery Farm nature refuge — two subjects near and dear to my heart — in a free talk and slideshow at the Franklin Lakes Public Library on Wednesday, March 11, from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

I'll explain the unsung John Fell’s heroic role in the Revolutionary War and discuss the house that bears his name and the swamp that he owned — better known today as the 107-acre Celery Farm.

I'm in a unique position to talk about John Fell and the Celery Farm. I've written extensively on both subjects, and I'm deputy warden of the natural area — once called Fell’s Meadows.

A slide show featuring archival photos will illustrate my talk.

A rumor is circulating that the spirit of John Fell may appear as well, which  I I will neither confirm nor deny.
