Next Saturday: CF Walk and Red-shoulder Nest Visit
Fyke Nature Association is presenting a free walk on Saturday, June 4, at 8 a.m., followed by a visit to the Red-shoulder nest from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
All participants will receive a newly updated full-color Celery Farm brochure/trail map.
Note: We suggest wearing long sleeves, long pants, socks and shoes to reduce the chances of ticks.
The 86-minute walk, open to nature lovers of all ages and abilities, are designed to acquaint more people with the 107-acre Celery Farm.
After the walk, we will visit the Kempeys, who are hosting the Red-shoulder nest this year — three nestlings!
You can also participate in just the nest visit from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Meet in the Franklin Turnpike parking lot for nest visit at 9:30 a.m. (Do not park on the sidewalk — against the law.)
The walk begins at the end of Green Way (a right turn off of northbound Franklin Turnpike, just before Crescent Avenue). (Directions are in the left-hand column.)
E-mail Jim Wright here to rsvp or get more info. Check this blog, www.celeryfarm.net, for updates, last-minute weather advisories for the walk, and directions to the Celery Farm and Green Way.
We hope to see you on Saturday. Listing follows.
Celery Farm Guided Walk, Saturday June 4, 8 a.m.
The Fyke Nature Association is offering a free guided walk at the Celery Farm Natural Area in Allendale on Saturday, June 4, at 8 a.m., followed by a visit to the nearby Red-shouldered Hawk nest. The walk is for nature-lovers of all ages and birders of all levels. We'll look for butterflies, bugs, weird plants and our feathered friends. We meet at the end of Green Way on the north end of the CF off Franklin Turnpike. E-mail Jim Wright at celeryfarm (at) gmail.com if you plan to attend. Check www.celeryfarm.net for any updates. Bring water and wear long pants and socks and bug spray! Heavy rain, lightning, or thunder cancels.
