My Latest Column: Cardinals
My latest column for The Record and Herald News is on that winter (and year-round) favorite, the Northern Cardinal, and it features part of a poem by the incomparable Mary Oliver.

Jim, another terrific article – thank you. A cardinal, in a snowy landscape is as beautiful as it gets, in my humble opinion. People may enjoy this set of cardinals who find our feeders and watering holes to be a good place to rear their young.

Wonderful and uplifting colum on these gray January days! Thanks, Jim!

Thanks Jim for this excellent article. Each day of the six months we have been living here (having moved from a cardinal-less part of the world!), our breath is taken away as a flash of red whirrs into view, and our excitement at seeing one is as much as it was when we saw our first.
And, how they light up the frigid winter landscape is definitely a winter highlight for us, and will be one of the reasons we will look forward to winters.
