If you've been wondering what's going on next to the Butterfly Garden..

Marsh Warden Mike Limatola and I have removed a swath of nasty invasives and planted Swamp Milkweed and Common Milkweed.

The plan is to gradually expand the plantings to make the area around the Butterfly Garden more butterfly-friendly.

Mike has also been mowing the trails to keep 'em wide  (pic at right; that's the Cletrac tractor in the background).

We've also clipped tree branches that overhand the paths. It helps the trails dry faster after a rain and reduces tick contact.
