The Town Journal's Kim Redmond has nifty story about Sylvan Lake, which existed in Ho-Ho-Kus in the 1800s. The lake was owned by John J. Zabriskie, who ended up drowning in the lake.
Marsh Warden Mike Limatola was nice enough to pass along this old map of the lake.
By the way, Mr. Zabriskie owned Wolf Swamp (also known as Fell's Meadows), which ultimately became the Celery Farm.
