On Monday I asked: What is this, and where in Allendale is it?
The answer, offered by several, is a millstone in Orchard Park, on the corner of Franklin Turnpike and W. Orchard Street.
Pat Price offered the most-detailed answer on the origin of the millstone: "My guess is Lydecker's Mill at San Jacinto, which was a grist mill. I remember hearing about a mill being there before it became a swim club. But in looking up the information there was also a peat mill on Cottage Place, and Christopher had a mill near Park and Crescent. Read all in my Allendale: Background of a Borough.
