We have been seeing more and more of these guys helicoptering to the ground.

Thanks to Rick Wright for teaching me a new word! I could be wrong, but I believe the samaras in this photo are from a Norway Maple, or Acer platanoides, which is not native to North America.
I have friends that call these seeds “noses” because while playing as children they would open up the seed pod end and stick them on their noses. -
Can’t figure it out today, didn’t figure it out yesterday–maybe I’ll try it samara.
