Saw this spectrum in the sky to the south of Allendaler ecently, like a sliver of a rainbow.
Does this sort of thing have a name, and what causes it?
Is it in the same category as the photo below, taken on High Mountain not too long ago?
The answer, as many of you said, is a Sundog. The image above, I learned, is a sun halo. Both are pretty cool.
