Because the lake looks like a glassy but aged mirror and there is a perfect reflection of the egret along with a multi-tiered reflection of the trees. It shows scope and distance and perspective and it must have made you happy at the time. I can imagine you breathed a sigh of relief at being there again even though you have been there so many times. Like a magic mirror talked about in old tales it drew you into it’s depth. I remember my mother had a rather large etched mirror in her room along with a mirrored tray on her dresser. It reflected the light from the window and almost glowed. So does the water here. I have not been to the Celery Farm recently because of the heat and bugs but if I do not get back soon I will surely pine away.
