Saw this fungus along Parnell's Path during the Butterfly Walk.
Any idea what it is? About the size of a tennis ball, maybe a tad smaller.

I looks like a skunk cabbage flower cluster, after it dries out.

I forward to my son who is in to the mushroom . He think it may be Strobilomyces
(Old man of the wood).
That’s a weird one. I wish I could see it in person, or see the underside. Maybe Strobilomyces sp.
