A New Facebook Campaign
I recently started a new Facebook page for Protect Our Wildlife and Pets, an ad hoc coalition formed to address…
Ralph Fylstra recently saw this fish and others attending the same school in the Allendale Brook not far from the Celery Farm.
The fish was about a half-foot long. Sorry about the photo quality; darned water got in the way.
What is it? No, it's not an Oriental Weatherfish.
Congrats to Joe K for getting the right answer: Suckerfish!
Fish expert Bob Schmidt originally ID'd the fish for me. He wrote:
"[The] fish in the stream is a White sucker in spawning color. You show the typical black and cream striping that males develop in the spring. White sucker is a native stream fish and [unlike the weatherfish] should be welcomed in your area.
(Thanks, Bob!]
