Meet Marie, the Monarch Caterpillar

_MG_9824
At Butterfly Day at DeKorte Park this past July, the Bergen County Audubon Society was giving away Swamp Milkweed plants, and I was fortunate enough to get one of the plants that a Monarch had been laying eggs on.

I planted it next to the Celery Farm and started waiting. And waiting, And waiting.

I am happy to announce that this past weekend I found a Monarch caterpillar on that very plant.

In honor of Marie Longo, who does so many Monarch projects for the BCAS, I have named the caterpillar "Marie."

Say hi to Marie, everyone, before she turns into a butterfly and heads for Mexico!  (Thanks, BCAS!)
