For the past week or two, a male House Wren has spent his every waking hour bringing twigs into the bird house pictured above, or singing his heart out — loudly and to no avail.
He would sing from dawn to dusk, until Sunday night, when a full moon caused him to sing all night.
My wife and I were beginning to feel sorry for him until he stopped singing on Monday morning — and started chasing a female wren around the yard.
We guess all that persistence — and advertising for a mate — paid off.
