I have always had the impression that kingfishers arrived at the Celery Farm in the spring, went off to Ho-Ho-Kus to have babies (they nest in the banks of streams), then returned around July 1 to feed.
But I saw this mom last week. An early arrival. I suspect we’ll be seeing her and other kingfishers regularly now. Lucky us.
