Celery Farm Buffleheads

DSCN9890Saw two distant male Buffleheads hanging out with some Hooded Mergs this a.m. and took a pic or two for ID purposes.

Rob Fanning reports:

This morning 2 Drake BUFFLEHEADS were briefly at the CF–before springing into the air and heading Northwest with a purpose.  This charismatic duck (the smallest of our diving ducks) is a rare but near annual visitor to the farm–However most of my approx. 20 records are in the fall–this is only my 5th SPRING record for the preserve.
 
It also represents the earliest record for the CF by 5 days, and bests my personal spring arrival date by 23 days!
