Butterfly Walk!

IMG_1756
Apparently the butterflies did not get the memo about the Fyke Nature Association's annual Tom Burr Memorial Butterfly Walk, because those winged wonders were few and far between.

IMG_1763 Stars of the morning were definitely the clear-winged moths.

We had nice looks at both the Snowberry and Hummingbird Clear-winged Moths.

Also had a Green Heron and a Tree Swallow or two.

A big thanks to all our participants!

  • I went back with Patty in the afternoon, and we had Silver-spotted Skippers, Pearl Crescents, a smaller skipper (Dun), and just missed a Red Admiral that a jogger had blundered past while two folks were trying to photograph.
Sunshine and warmer temps can make a difference.
Saw a Comma on Friday afternoon but not again on Saturday.
    Thanks for the report.

  • I was there for quite a while on Friday and had two Eastern Commas on the Allendale Brook side and three Cabbage Whites at three different sites.
