Bird ID Help Requested
Could you help with IDing this bird – am I missing something obvious here?
I first thought of a goldfinch but the lack of a wing bar or pattern put me in doubt.

I kind of like how Scarlets “transform” themselves into a “different” species in the fall. Still a nice looking bird!

Thanks, Rick. Scarlet Tanager – wow, the last bird I would have thought of! But now that you have pointed it out, I know why.
The bird must have hit a wall/glass, as it looked quite dazed and was sitting still at the same spot for at least a few mins, with its eyes occasionally closing shut.
While I was still debating on the best course of action to try and help the bird, it all of a sudden gathered a burst of energy, fluttered its wings and flew to a nearby tree – that was the last I saw of it.
This was taken this past Sat (9/27) in Allendale, next to the Celery Farm. -
Thanks, Rick!

This is a male scarlet tanager. If we knew the date, the obvious molt limits in the wing would let us age it even.
