This rare Yellow-tufted Woodpecker was seen and photographed near Oak Street and Brookside Avenue in Allendale on Oct. 29, 1971.
Origin of the bird unknown.
Identification confirmed at the time by Dean Amadon, Lamont curator of birds at the American Museum of Natural History.
No guarantee that it will show up again there on Oct. 29 this year.
