My Latest Column: Killdeer!

DSCN9086
My latest column for The Record is all about the eccentric shorebird known as the Killdeer, currently nesting in a local parking lot and other equally inappropriate (to humans) locales.

The link is here.

  • My first encounter with a Killdeer was also before I started birding. It’s haunting call sent me in search of it’s identity. It was nesting on the flat pebbly roof of a building. After the roof was replaced with a newer rubber version, no more Killdeer nested there.
