Rob Fanning reports: "At approximately 8:10 a.m. on the Pirie Platform, Patrick Scheuer
noticed several shorebirds flying towards the far end of the lake.

"While a few of the birds put down (at least one was a Solitary), a pair
of birds continued to fly around the lake, looking for a place to land.
While trying to determine the species they finally provided a decent
view and I noticed that one of the birds was a breeding plumaged female
WILSON'S PHALAROPE!

_P4G9380_1-1    "We suspected that it's companion was another
Phalarope, and thanks to the quick reflexes of photographer Bob Kane,
it was confirmed–a pair of WILSON'S PHALAROPES! [Photo above, and left — and a great job of photographing these birds on the fly].

   "Unfortunately they
never did find a suitable landing spot to their liking, and were gone
within a few minutes.

"This is my first record for the CF, and the 2nd record overall."

"Other than that it was a fairly quiet morning migrant-wise. A tree-top
singing WHITE-EYED VIREO was briefly glimpsed, and at least 6 NORTHERN
WATERTHRUSHES were present (easily the most common May warbler migrant
at the CF)

"…and late last evening, an AMERICAN BITTERN was flying around, and a SORA sounded off very briefly. Thanks, Rob and Bob!
