What a High Mountain Hike!

DSCN9998-001
The Fyke/Bergen County Audubon Society hike at High Mountain had a glorious morning — and a great group of folks.

Highlights included an Eastern Bluebird at the summit, a couple of amorous (I'd like to think) Mourning Cloaks, and those great views of Manhattan, the GW Bridge, the Verrazano Bridge, Garret Mountain and everything else.

I will post more about the hike in the next few days, but just wanted to give a shout-out to the Geocachers who did a huge cleanup at High Mountain today.

Our hike was very strenuous at times, and these folks not only climbed to the summit (870 feet-ish) but cleaned the area as well and carted the trash down the mountain in a wheelbarrow. Other geocachers cleaned up other spots in the preserve.

This was their 10th annual clean-up. Just sayin'.

Thanks to everyone who joined us today.

Awesome hike! Great views, and terrific hike leader. Glad I brought my gardening gloves to pick up broken glass.
