Turkeys, Toad and Turtle at the Celery Farm

Walking around the Celery Farm is wonderful — you never know what you might see.

This week I pulled off a rare triple-T trifecta:

A Mama Turkey with her poults in the Dead Zone, an American Toad in the Barbara’s Bog, and an egg-laying Painted Turtle (I think) laying eggs at the Warden’s Watch. (Click images to enlarge,)

Top that!

What a timely report! Just this morning I found a turtle trying to lay eggs in my grass. Ground was so hard that she was not making much progress. She has moved on now; maybe back to the pond, but I need help in IDing her. Is there someone in Fyke that might be able to tell me what she is? I can send photos to you from my phone. Alas, our Patrick has left. I used to send reptile photos to him.
