Tuesday Mystery: Bird I.D. Help Amended

A reader writes:

I just saw a bird hopping around the backyard (couldn’t get a picture, unfortunately), stopping to nibble here and there, that I couldn’t find in my book.

Little guy was about the size of a sparrow, seemed more finch-like, olive-colored including its small head, with a white breast with black stripes. Maybe a juvenile wren, warbler?

Any thoughts?
