The Very First CF Mink Shot!
Back when Jerry Barrack, Doug Goodell, and I were working on "In the Presence of Nature," Jerry and I had one of those amazing Celery Farm moments.
If memory serves, we were on the Warden's Watch, looking toward Lake Appert when we heard something behind us. We looked back and briefly saw a Mink. Our jaws dropped.
Jerry swung his big camera around in time to see the Mink come into view and dive into the water. Incredibly, Jerry had managed to photograph the critter.
We high-fived each other (chest-bumping wasn't in fashion yet), and as we celebrated, at of the corner of our eyes we could see the Mink return to shore with a huge fish in its mouth.
It disappeared before Jerry could get off a shot.
So we settled for Jerry's amazing frst-ever Mink shot, the grand-daddy of all CF mink shots.
More on Mink here.

Jim, have there been no other photos you have seen, between 2001 and this year?
I know I have had only one fleeting glimpse of what I thought might have been a mink, probably in 2010, but so quick I couldn’t even move my camera before it was gone. And this in about 275 visits since April 2009.
