Incorporating the Celery Farm and Screech Owl Companion blogs
The power of advertising
Maybe it was pure coincidence, but after I announced on the blog on Friday that there was a studio apartment with a security camera for rent http://njmg.typepad.com/owl/2007/08/1-rm-cf-view.html, I got tenants the very next day or maybe even the same evening.
Perhaps thanks to my advertisement, Mrs. Squirrel and the squirks have returned.
It has been suggested, since they left on a Saturday http://njmg.typepad.com/owl/2007/08/arrivederci-squ.html and returned the next Saturday, that perhaps they had merely been renting a place at the Shore for the week.
I am not convinced, especially since I see no signs of sand or sunburn.
I’ll post some pix and videos soon. The photo above was taken yesterday afternoon when I saw a face in the opening.
I turned on the camera, and could hear the babies feeding while Mrs. S was leaning against the front of the box with her head out the window.
The squirks are bigger but still apparently blind and hairless, and I would be the last to bring up the fact they look a little rat-like.
In their own way, they are quite beautiful.
Welcome back, summer renters. Stay as long as you like — so long as you are out by Sept. 30, when I have to start get the place ready for prospective screech owl tenants.

Welcome back, little ones! That is one of the neatest posts outside of the owls.
