   As of last night, Mrs. Ace was still sitting on three eggs.   

   She has really been hunkered down on the eggs of late and breathing far more deeply than before.

   There has been no change in the equation for four days; it is looking like three eggs is the magic number.

   Incubation takes roughly 26 to 31 days, so if all goes well, there could be some interesting developments in early May.

   One thing that has stood out is how the inside of the nesting box has changed so drastically over the past three months.

   Feathers and chunks of fur seem to come and go, though the sides of the box seem to be the prime feather repository.

   To see the number of feathers that have been in the box over the past two months is to understand why other birds hate screech owls so much.

   They do not like the notion of becoming a screech owl meal.
