Thanks to All Who Helped Clean the CF

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped clean up the Celery Farm on Sunday. Above, some of the trash we collected included Mylar balloons, a couple of beer bottles, an Amazon box, lots of fast food containers and a soggy diaper that I found next to the parking lot.

Deputy Warden Gaby Schmitt led the charge: She writes:

It was a chilly, windy morning …. one of those when it would have so easy to stay in bed, or, maybe to drop another slice of bread or bagel into the toaster. And yet, a few hardy folks showed up to grab a bag and pick up trash throughout the preserve.

My sincere thanks go out to Mimi Brauch, Monica Cardoza, Bill Drummond, Patty Finn, Rochana Muenthongchin, and Jim O'Leary.

The good news is that there wasn't as much trash as in years past, mostly cans and bottles, snack wrappers, and the odd dirty diaper.

On a personal note – It was nice to walk the paths that are a bit less traveled…. except, of course, by the deer. Toward the northeast corner, I heard Downy Woodpecker, Red-belly, Pileated and – BONUS – I saw a Brown Creeper!
