SWAN: Part II
I know that many are not big fans of swans, but I learned two things about them yesterday that I did not know before.
Click "Continue reading …" for more.
It appears the swan that left the Celery Farm on Sunday
landed on a baseball field on Crescent Avenue near Borough Hall. And
landed rather sloppily, doing a bit of a somersalt.
The swan attracted a lot of attention:
* on account of the landing.
* on account of the fact that it hung around and stuck out like a miniature snowman.
* on account of the fact that it let people get closer than a swan ordinarily would without hissing like crazy.
One neighbor was feeding bread to the swan, and many talked about what to do with the swan.
The two things I learned (from the marsh warden) are that:
1. when swans land on land instead of water, they tend to land unceremoniously.
2. if you feed a swan you think is injured, lettuce is better than bread.
The one thing I did not learn is what became of the swan.
In the meantime, check out these swan feet.
