Stone Harbor Clapper Rail Fest

IMG_1247
While visiting the Wetlands Institute, I walked out onto an elevated platform in time to see three Clapper Rails (including a youngster) foraging.

I had never seen more than one at a time before (in the Meadowlands), and then at a distance. At the Wetlands Institute, it's apparently no big deal.

One man's ceiling is another man's floor, and all that.

I’d never even heard of a Clapper Rail until I read the post about the one that was saved near the Oculus. Great rescue story and really neat bird!
