State Line Lookout

I went with friends to the State Line Lookout in Alpine the other morning for about 90 minutes and saw some pretty good birds.
The raptor at left was my first broad-wing of the year. It flew directly overhead. We also had 17 O'Spreys (Irish fish hawks), two bald eagles, a northern harrier and a redtail or two.
Plus many excellent vulture views, which provide good practice for nature photographers.
State Line Lookout, just off Exit Three of the Palisades Interstate Parkway, is one of the few wheelchair=accessible hawk watches in the state. Parking is ample (at least until the fall foliage season brings out the leaf peepers), and there is a coffee shop right there in case you want to grab a burger or a cup of joe.
And the views of the Hudson River are terrific. The only downside — at present there's no hawk counter there to help ID and spot raptors.
Definitely worth a visit, though.
