SCREECH OWLS: The ultimate video
"Screech Owl Family Jamboree" was one of my first videos, and I realized it could use an overhaul. The video is now shorter, sharper, with easier-to-read subtitles.
(Might allow a little time for the video to load.)
And maybe it’s just me, but that bluegrass music by the Hunger Mountain Boys sounds better than ever. The video simply must be played with the volume "up."
I will try to re-do the Spanish-language version as time allows.

ME and my wife live in Orlando and have a pair of Screech Owls that roost in an Areca palm just outside one of our large windows. Occasionally they roost together but usually one sits in the Fishtail palm next to our driveway. They leave the same time every evening (6p.m) and return the next morning (about 7 a.m.). We can faintly hear their call just before they leave in the evening, when they meet each other in a neighbors oak tree. It is really entertaining. We also have a much larger Barred owl that makes our dog bark when he “hoots” at night. Coincidentally we live in a neighborhood called Audubon Park.

You probably won’t get a screech owl before late October, so don’t get your hopes up too soon.
Glad you like the Meadowlands Blog. Spread the word. :- ) -
Thanks again, Jim. My girl, Gracie is going to love this. We check our “owl cam” everyday, but with no luck. We have had bad timing all year as far as the owls and getting the box and cam hooked up. This video will placate her for a while. I’m thinking if we don’t get a resident owl this fall, we’ll have to hope for spring.
The blue heron photo you recently posted is fabulous.
And I’m enjoying the Meadowlands site that you put together. Very interesting stuff.
Thanks!
