This is the first Allendale Memorial Day Parade in recent memory without Stiles and Lillian Thomas — they've moved to Massachusetts — and they were missed.

Above are some scenes from the parade, including the new tree in honor of Sgt. Ed Hamilton, who died in World War II. The original tree on the spot was planted in 1922 to celebrate the birth of Ed's sister. Ed's nieces are in a couple of the photos.

For the first time I can remember, no free candy was tossed as part of the festivities. Amen!
