Saturday owl update
Things were all quiet on the Aces front this morning. (See image above,)
The two bigger owlets were awake but quiet.
One of the four is still so small that he is sitting under Mom.
The other small one is in the photo but asleep and hard to see (in the left-hand corner of the box.
At this point, two questions come to mind: How much longer will the Four Aces stay in the nesting box, and how many of the four will make it?
As you can see in the screech-cam video below, all four owlets seem healthy but two are clearly bigger.
One of the owlets seems like she is almost ready to hop up to the opening but my guess is that that’s several days away.
The standard timetable, according one screech-owl writeup I’ve read, is roughly 25 days from hatching to leaving the nest, so that would be roughly in another week.
As always, time will tell.
