Rufous Hummingbird Update

Jwright f. rufous hummingbird 110319 07401 IMG_2097
Ruffles, the rare Rufous Hummingbird, high-tailed to parts unknown on April 4 after being a houseguest at a heated feeder near the Celery Farm for more than five months.

Images of the female hummer were sent to the state records committee, who said it was indeed a Rufous and not a nearly identical species known as an Allen's.

A huge thank you to Ruffles' gracious hosts, Bob and Lisa Safier. (Outstanding job!)

More on Rufous Hummingbirds here.

GREAT photos. Especially the second one. Those little buggers can be hard to get a good shot of.
