Red-shouldereds in love?
Saw two red-shouldered hawks in a distant tree at the Celery Farm the other day, and took this shot of one of them as it flew.
It would appear to be a red-shouldered hawk.
One is seen regularly in the early morning toward the Butterfly Garden and the northern lookout.
The reason that two red-shouldereds are potentially a big deal is that a nesting female died about a mile way last spring, and they are a threatened species when nesting.
If the male has a new mate, or is at least courting one, then hope springs eternal.
Here are the links to the posts about the red-shouldered tragedy in the spring.
