OWLS: A screech owlet video
I took this video from my backyard, at dusk, so it is not the greatest, but it gives you an idea of life as an owlet beyond the nesting box.
It is a little outdated, but wanted to sure the owlets were completely gone before posting it.
Tomorrow: A rare photo of an owlet outside the box.

My owlets do that little dance also when I take their photographs. Or mainly if I warble at them. What does that mean.
I had the most amazing and yet frightening experience. One baby owlet flew right above my head and I was warbling and talking to him. And he started doing that “ready, set , go movement” and I quietly backed away to my house as I was afraid he was going to leap on me. Now, I do not get chummy with them. Because they are young and I want them to stay very wild. I hope you do write that book. Because I have researched books on screech owls and there are very few. The best one is years and years old and out of print. Someone needs to write a “tell all” owl book. -
I love this video! The owl literally “on a limb” with the cries of jays piercing its new world. And then, at the end, it morphs from a blurry, swaying something into its Self! Good stuff–thank you!
