OWL: Ace saga continues

Squirrel
Ace had another tough day yesterday, thanks in large part to his nemesis on the left, the gray squirrel.
I was looking out my window yesterday when I saw  a squirrel on Ace’s tree, en route to the nesting box.
I grabbed a camera on my way out the door but by the time I got to the backyard, the "situation" had ended.
The squirrel had exited the box at blinding speed, and disappeared.Squirrelfur_3

All I got was a photo of the side of the owl box, which featured a chunk of squirrel fur hanging from it (right side of picture).
If you look closely, you can see the top of Ace’s head.
Friends of mine were in the living room at the time and saw the whole incident.
They said the  squirrel went into the box, the box soon shook violently, and the squirrel then exited.

A bit later, Ace stuck his head out of the opening Ace0112_3
and I figured he would catch some rays, as owls like to do, and everything would be copacetic.
The next thing I knew, a co
uple of visitors to the Celery Farm went off the trail near Ace’s nesting box so they could take pictures of the carved snakes.

Ace was no longer in the opening, and a quick check of the monitor showed hum to be absent from the box altogether.

I started to look in the trees for him, only to find him nearby in the wood duck box, with head peering out (image below).

I had to go to work, so that’s how I left things.

This morning when I turned on the owl monitor, he had not returned.

And because of a cut cable, I can’t see if he is in the box with the Quacker Tracker cam.
    To be continued.
