Tom Burr writes: "The insect  is the Ailanthus Webworm Moth (although I think he is trying to look like a beetle).

"I caught him nectaring the goldenrod at Lorrimer last summer. Now that's a cool looking critter, looking like he's been graffitied up by a gang member."
