The Sky’s the Limit for This Birder
Fewer than 500 people worldwide have reported seeing this African bird – a blue-moustached bee-eater. Photo by Marc Chelemer By…
As of 6:30 Thursday morning, the egg count remains at two. Mrs. Ace, as far as I could tell, stayed in all day yesterday and stayed out most of the night.
She perched in the opening for a short while this morning (image on left), hopped into the box, departed, returned a few minutes later and settled in.
From what I understand, Mrs. Ace will likely lay a third egg today or tomorrow — after which she will stay on the eggs and incubate them almost full-time.
It will be up to Ace each night to bring home the bacon — in the form of mice, moles, frogs, bats and other creatures.
Later today: The hummingbirds are on their way.
