More than Any Old Penny Found at the CF
Bruce Davis, our woodchip-spreader volunteer extraordinaire, writes:
Jim, you mentioned you'll be visiting Stiles soon. This 1956 penny is for him.
I found this penny on the western path. I picture it being dropped by a Bajor or Appert [the two Celery Farming families].
Give Stiles my best! I'm very thankful for the Celery Farm. What a great thing he and others did.
To elaborate a little, Nevins McBride first put the bulk of the Celery Farm property up for sale in 1956, and Stiles began trying to save it. A representive for U.S. Fish & Wildlife wrote to Stiles and said the land was too small and too expensive to save.
I'm giving Stiles the penny this Sunday.

Terrific story. Stiles is still at the Farm and always will be.
