More about that Fox, w/Video

After I posted my Mill Creek Marsh photo of a Red Fox, the Celery Farm's Tom Mitchell wrote:

"We had a fox approach us there a couple of years ago and asked about it. It seems that someone is feeding them." He also sent along the video above.

A helpful webpage on why feeding wild animals is generally a bad idea is here.

(It applies to deer, too!)

  • True. I was there in 2011 or 12, parking cars for a Hackensack Rivderkeepeer event because you should always put the short fat old lady parking cars. Anyway, I digress., someone came along with a pail of chicken parts and I asked if they were feeding stray cats. They said no, we’re feeding something else. No sooner had they placed the chicken, a shy fox ( as opposed to the sly fox, way ahead of you Jim) , watching me cautiously, comes around and runs over a log and heads for the goods. I got a great photo. I’ll have to find it. Eats some chicken and buried some.
