MONDAY MORNING MYSTERY: Answered
Monday morning's mystery was what is hidden in plain sight in this recent photo. Tom Burr, a friend of this blog, got it exactly right.
Way to go, Tom! I nearly walked past it without seeing it in real life.
(Don't you love that snow on the ground? Seems like ages ago.)

ANSWER: A Great Blue Heron was hanging out by the water's edge to the right on the way to the Warden's Watch. (It's in the lower middle of the original photo.)

Hey Tom,
You get the “Sharpest Eyes of the Celery Farm” award! Congrats from us all!
John
PS: Photographic enhancement of the reddish pixels on the platform reveals the nose of a smallish reindeer leading a team of conspecifics pulling a sleigh. -
Great protective coloration and behavior on the heron’s part, eh? But what John, Sally and I were mistakenly drawn to was that reddish entity on a branch just above (or in front of) Warden’s Watch. Cardinal hanging out–or just a leaf hanging on? What other mysteries could be seen by staring at that photo? At one point I thought I saw Mr. Ace, the screech owl! Must stop gazing!
