MONDAY MORNING MYSTERY: 111708

I have been battling a cold for almost a week, which means I have not been to the Celery Farm — although I do stare out at it quite a bit between sips of tea and gargles of salt water.I009
This has left me in a bind — what to do for the Monday Morning Mystery?

I did some rummaging around the Internet and came up with avian literary mystery.  Here goes:
Why did Lewis Carroll portray himself as a dodo in "Alice in Wonderland"?

    Neato! Smart Tom!

  • So sorry you’re a’snifflin’ and a’sneezin’ and a’suffrin’! Hope you’re on the mend.
Nice mystery. I must admit I had to cheat and go Goo-goo Googling to find th-th-the a-a-answer:
In Alice in Wonderland, the character of the Dodo from the Caucus Race is in reality Lewis Carroll himself. Carroll’s real name was Charles Dodgson
and he suffered from a stutter. When he tried to pronounce his surname he said “Do-Do-Dogson”, and was therefore called “Dodo” behind his back.
    Thanks for the ch-ch-challenge.
