Monday Morning Mystery 110821

Someone at the Celery Farm asked me one time,  "If you step on exposed tree roots on the path, does the tree feel pain?"

What do you think?

    I think it depends on if the tree had developed callouses on the roots.

  • From my study of Redwoods, I say, yes
    The Redwoods have a unique root system that typically goes just 6-12 feet deep. How is it possible that these trees rarely fall over? The Redwoods stay standing because their shallow roots intertwine with the roots of the other redwood trees. They are literally holding each other up.J
