Monday Morning Mystery 070813

This bug was photographed last month by Don Torino at the Teaneck Creek Conservancy. What is it? (Looks like the perfect pet…)

  • Eyed Click Beetle

  • The body looks like that of a click beetle, but I don’t remember seeing the eye spots on any I have ever encountered. Click beetle larvae (wire worms) like to get into my garden and feed on the potatoes. The adults can flip themselves over with a “click” when they end up on their backs. I am guessing there might be more than one species.
