IMG_0769Saw these berries on High Mountain earlier this month. With thorns.

What kind of a berry, and why haven't any birds eaten them?

  • I think your correct more info has a big seed inside .. .berries are edible.
berries remain on the plant throughout winter.
young shoots and leaves are edible raw.
tuber can be roosted and ground into flour.
plant is a climbing vine or tangled bush with thorns.
    grows in thickets and woods.

  • Greenbrier? Is the sugar level highest very late in the season?
